Sanwo-Olu’s Wife Urges Parents to Prioritise Moral, Spiritual Upbringing

The First Lady of Lagos State, Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has called on parents to take a more deliberate approach in guiding their children’s moral and spiritual development, emphasising its importance in building a better society.

She made the call at the 2026 Lagos State Family Easter Fiesta held at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, where children from different backgrounds gathered to celebrate with the First Family.

The event featured an interactive session where the First Lady engaged children through storytelling, explaining the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ while seated with them in a circle.

She noted that despite His good works, Jesus Christ was both loved and rejected, urging the children to understand the deeper meaning of Easter beyond celebration.

Sanwo-Olu encouraged parents to teach their children about Christian seasons, stressing that such knowledge would help shape their character and values.

She said Easter represents kindness, forgiveness, and the spread of God’s goodness, adding that faith in Christ gives children confidence, courage, and joy.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Ali-Balogun, urged parents and schools to sensitise children to the dangers of social vices such as cultism, bullying, and drug abuse, while promoting responsible use of social media.

In his exhortation, Venerable Opeyemi Victor Adeyemo encouraged the children to embrace the message of love, hope, and victory associated with Easter, assuring them that they can overcome life’s challenges through faith and trust in God.
