The Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) has endorsed Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for a second term in office.
The GAC is the highest decision-making body of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu’s spokesman, Gboyega Akosile, announced the development in a post on his social media handles on Monday.
According to Akosile, the decision was taken after a meeting of the council on Monday.
“Breaking news: Lagos GAC gives nod to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second term bid. The Governance Advisory Council at a meeting in Lagos today gave pass marks to Sanwo-Olu for staying through to the developmental agenda of Lagos.
Congratulations dear boss!” Akosile wrote.
The development comes weeks after the GAC had dismissed speculations that it had endorsed another candidate for the 2023 governorship election.
