Police disown unauthorised ‘AFRIPOL 2026’ programme

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has disowned a purported “AFRIPOL 2026” programme being circulated online, describing it as unauthorised and misleading.

In a statement issued from Force Headquarters in Abuja, Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, said the police neither approved nor endorsed the programme.

The Force also condemned the unauthorised use of the name AFRIPOL, explaining that the acronym refers to the African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation — an official continental policing framework established by the African Union.

According to the police, AFRIPOL is not a platform for private individuals or organisations to organise unauthorised events.

“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to state categorically that it did not approve, endorse, or authorize the purported ‘AFRIPOL 2026’ programme currently being circulated online,” the statement said.

The police further clarified that the leadership of the Force did not authorise the use of the image of Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, the official NPF logo, or any identity linked to the Force in connection with the programme.

The statement urged members of the public and corporate organisations to disregard the publication and avoid any sponsorship, payment or engagement linked to the event.

The Force warned that any association with the programme would not receive recognition or backing from the Nigeria Police Force.
