NGX Extends Trading Hours, Market Now Closes at 4pm

The Nigerian Exchange Limited has officially extended its daily trading hours, with the market now operating from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The new schedule, which took effect on April 27, 2026, replaces the previous 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. trading window, adding over three hours to daily market activity.

In a statement, the NGX announced the change, describing it as a shift towards a more flexible and responsive trading environment for investors.

The extension, approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission, is aimed at improving market liquidity, enhancing price discovery, and allowing investors more time to react to market developments.

According to the exchange, the longer trading hours will better align the Nigerian market with global standards while creating more opportunities for market participants.

The move signals a significant adjustment in Nigeria’s capital market operations, as stakeholders anticipate increased trading activity and improved efficiency.
