Okocha's Foreign Scholarship to Nigerian Students

The ex Super Eagles’ mid-fielder, Austine ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, in conjunction with the authorities of the University of Bolton, has concluded plans to offer scholarships to ten indigent but enterprising Nigerian students willing to study at the university of Bolton. Each of the ten successful applicants for the scholarship will be awarded £2000 each.

In a statement released by the university authorities, the scholarships will provide a valuable structure of financial support to
ensure that students of low backgrounds in Nigeria can enjoy the benefits of higher education at the University of Bolton.
In addition to that, the beneficiaries of the scholarship will also receive congratulatory letters personally signed by the former mercurial mid-fielder as well as 10 Bolton Wanderers Premier League Season tickets of 15 matches.

While expressing his appreciation of the initiative taken by one of world finest footballers of modern era, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr George Holmes commented that it was “an exciting partnership for the University. We awarded Bolton Wanderers an
Honorary Fellowship in recognition of their contribution to sport both in Bolton and across the world. Jay Jay Okocha was their captain at the time and I'm delighted we have been able to build on that and offer opportunities to students from Nigeria to come and study at Bolton.” He therefore enjoined Nigerians to embrace the gesture as he claimed that the University offers high quality of education and ranked third out of the 128 universities in the UK by Times magazine in 2008.

Representatives of the University of Bolton are presently in Nigeria, precisely in Lagos and Abuja, educating and interviewing prospective applicants with a view to issuing on the spot offers and discussing the scholarship opportunities with them.

Why Lagos and Abuja? There are places such as abia state or owerri. If you live in lagos you are at least well to do. Comparing to those rural areas without electricity and they are struggling.

Hi jay jay, the legend of our time, this is what Nigerians are expecting from every successful and resposible figure. We hope your former colleagues will take a cue from you generous act. And the present in the likes of Mikel Obi, Obafemi Martins will not only be spending on women and exotic drinks; we hope one day they can also give back as you have done.
Odion.
