Kano blast leaves 8 dead, 20 injured

Seven of the new intakes of the Kano School of Hygiene Technology were blown together with a suicide bomber, Monday afternoon, on the premises of the school.

20 others were left injured in the incident which occurred while the new students were undergoing the compulsory screening exercise.

According to the Kano Commissioner of POlice, Adenrele Shinaba, 8 vehicles also parked within the premises of the tertiary institution were damaged.

Revealing that a suspect had been arrested at the scene of the bombing, he added that the dead bodies had ben deposited at the morgue, while the injured were stil receiving treatment in a government hospital.

“Every lead seems to point at suicide bombing, unlike our previous experience none of the vehicles parked inside this school caught fire and there is no hole around to suggest a car bombing but all leads are still open for investigation”, he said.

“It was a terrible sight to behold when we came for rescue”,” the Public Relations Officer of the School, Malam Muhammad revealed.

The School of Hygiene is located along Bayero University Kano, BUK, road in Kano.
